 Overview of the Croozer Kid

The Croozer Kid is a true multi-functional talent. Can be used as a bicycle trailer, buggy or jogger, it is ideal for parents who love sporting activities with their children. And the pleasing thing is, in all three forms, it is extremely stable and very double-filling. The dynamic design is clearly visible in the safety passenger compartment with overrunning brackets and side impact protection. In addition, Click & Crooz can be switched between the three options in just a few steps. The ergonomically shaped child seat is a real eye-catcher, which provides your child with a safe, comfortable fit during every activity. In addition, a 20-liter storage space ( «luggage compartment») provides behind the seat for any accessories needed for a successful trip. A wide wheelbase and a low center of gravity give the kid a particularly high tipping stability. This is done with an aluminum frame which is light with a weight of 14 kg and does not cause any difficulties when starting or braking. A great idea is the so-called Click & Flash, which offers both rear brake light and headlight light forwards. Unfortunately, this is a paid accessory and can be ordered online via the manufacturer’s website. The Croozer Kid is the combination of enormous sportiness and comfort.

Scope of delivery of the Croozer Kid

The delivery has a bit more parts than other bike trailers. Firstly, a large bent rod is erected, and two slightly bent dikes of the same length. Under the heading «start-up», it must be read that before the first ride a few handgrips have to be done, which explain the large scope of delivery. A third large wheel is also visible as a jogger wheel.

Commissioning of the Croozer Kid

As already mentioned, the large bent rod must be attached to the aluminum frame. This is done with the help of screws. The rear tires can then be attached to the axle using a simple click system. The car is then ready, only the decision which of the three sets corresponds to the situation is missing. Thus, the buggy wheel is simply attached to the cross bar ( «bumper»), while for the other two options further connections have to be screwed on.

The two curved bars are the axis for the jogger variant. The drawbar is also attached to the bumper for the trailer. All in all, the assembly is somewhat more complex than with the Qeridoo models, but there is not much and should not influence the decision.

The connection between the bicycle and the car has been successful. Thus, an articulation is installed which, when the brakes are strong, cushions the car, but it is also possible to recognize a lock which makes it impossible to detach the drawbar. A great safety factor. If the appropriate set is installed, the car only has to be opened. This is done with the seat. The backrest must be folded upwards and the two brackets must be closed around the frame. At the same time, we have to admit that a little power is needed, because the seat and the car must be put under tension for optimum support. But after one or two exercises, that is no longer a problem.

 Croozer Kid in the Praxistest

One advantage of the Croozer Kid is the relatively short length of the car. This is not to scare you, the space for your child and the storage space do not suffer from it. The ergonomic seat is slightly tilted backwards, which means that space could be saved. This results in a very pleasant maneuverability. Another advantage is the trailer hitch: in the case of a sharp braking, it also prevents the car from standing very abruptly and offers a small crumple zone.

20 inch aluminum rims with ball bearings ensure a very simple rolling of the car. Two cat eyes ensure safety on the street. Similar to an all-weather profile, the tires are bursting with wet roads. The air filling also ensures that small unevenness we gravel or branches can be intercepted for the time being. We could not recognize a further suspension directly, even if we believe that despite this, very little vibration arrives at the child. Responsible for this could be the Ergo-Sitz. Its tense design lets your little one cushion in the seat somewhat, comparable to a car seat of the 60s.

So we rate the driving style with very good, because the comfort for your child is given, while no safety deficiencies can be found.The wheelbase is sufficient to prevent tipping during fast journeys. In addition, the deep focus on the road situation is beneficial.The weight of 14 kg is good to move and even with the maximum load of an additional 35 kg, the car is very agile. The clutch works and in the case of hard braking it fulfills its purpose. To complain there is only that no handbrake at the push handle is present. This would be a successful addition to the overall very sporty interpretation.

 Although the Croozer Kid has a parking brake at the rear of the car, however, it is somewhat impractical designed to actuate it with the foot. If we had something to complain, it would be this shortcoming. But this does not affect the great tracking of the model and the lightness it proves when pulling. As a 3 in 1 set we have additionally tested the handling of the jogger and the buggy.

Buggy & Jogger

The fact that a buggy bike is included is a great option, but the usability is also limited here. For very bumpy ground like cobblestone or coarse gravel, the wheel starts to wiggle and the car becomes slightly restless. If this is too much for the wrists or your child from sleeping, the front wheel can be fixed for a slight improvement. Then the car has to be raised for curves, but the option has been successful and thus the buggy wheel is of course a viable alternative. But we like the jogger version better:

The jogger works very well and will please athletic parents. Although the assembly is also a bit complicated here, and with frequent changes between the sets, one or the other screw has to be turned, but once assembled, the third pneumatic wheel fulfills its purpose with flying colors. The kid is super easy to push over all the ground and hardly deviates from his path. A great idea to deliver such a bike!

convertible top

The soft top is very flexible especially on the front. With an insect repellent, a sun protection or the complete closure from rain it offers all necessary possibilities. What a pity is that the sides do not provide air slots. For this purpose, the convertible top can be opened behind the seat to provide an air passage.

Quality & Security

We liked the belt very much. Based on a classic 5-point harness system, the meeting point in the middle is additionally equipped with a kind of pillow, which makes carrying easier again. The straps are adjustable in length and shoulder pads protect your child from friction. The head cushion is useful, a pity that it has no lateral «ears» to prevent strong head movements. This protective function is adopted by the fold-out frame. Your child sits well between the limits and has thus no chance to be moved with strong curves too much. Only the padding of the seat suffers somewhat under the folding system, so you can feel minimal the bars on the sides. The seat is absolutely perfect and lets your child sit comfortably in the bicycle trailer. The image that the jogger wheel takes closer under the magnifying glass also shows two light reflectors ( «cat eyes») which are front-aligned and the reflective tire wall.This makes the car difficult to miss and night-time journeys are safe. The aluminum case is very secure on all four sides and the frame protects your child from every side very well. TÜV Rheinland certified the car with the Toxproof seal. There are therefore no harmful substances in the materials.

Conclusion

The Croozer Kid proves sportiness and stability, coupled with great compatibility. Only a few trifles many of us, for example the folding system of the seat. Although it makes the car extremely compact fold, which makes it very well on trips. However, the handling is minimal and the padding of the seat is minimal. However, this is hardly worth mentioning. A great plus is the jogger wheel, which assures athletic parents any kind of sport with your children. Great are the driving and the chassis of the car. If you are looking for something sporting, which has many options, you are very well advised with the Croozer Kid. With a price of around 600 € the associated performance is also definitely given!
